Tour Overview

KAMPALA is the largest urban centre and the capital city of Uganda. Located only 34 kilometres from Entebbe International Airport and north of Lake Victoria with a population growth of over 1 million people, it is considered one of the fastest growing cities in the world. It is occupied by the prominent seven hills which are at an elevation of 3900 feet. The Kampala tour and sightseeing expedition offers a wide range of activities ranging from commercial tours and social visits to cultural sites, among others.

The Kampala city tour starts with a visit to KIBULI MOSQUE in Kampala, which sits on Kibuli Hill, 1 km from Kampala city centre. It is one of the oldest Islamic mosques built by Prince Nooh Mbogo in the early 19th century that became a pillar of spreading Islam in the central region. In this modern day, Islamists still flock Kibuli Mosque to commemorate the efforts of the early believers in spreading Islam and offer their prayers to Allah. Apart from the mosque, this hill also hosts Kibuli Secondary School, Kibuli Islamic Hospital and Kibuli Teachers’ Training College.

After your briefing at the mosque, you will take a tour around the Mosqueits strategic location gives you the aerial view of the city when you take steps in the tower to reach on Top, you can opt to visit Kibuli Hospital after you will proceed to the next destination.

After a visit to the Mosque you will continue toBulange one of the Significant Buildings in the Buganda Kingdom,its host the Buganda Parliament,Administration and CBS (Central Broad casting Cooperation) RADIO, you will meet the on site guide who will brief you on the code of conduct while at the palace as well as the History related to its existence before taking a tour inside this establishment thereafter you will retreat for lunch in the city Centre before proceeding to your next destination.

BULANGE is located on Namirembe Hill in Kampala. The Bulange building hosts the Buganda Kingdom administration quarters as well as the Parliament of Buganda (the LUKIIKO) where the Kabaka (King of Buganda Kingdom) meets the members of the legislature to discuss issues that affect the kingdom.

After having your Lunch Break for 1 hour you will then proceed to Rubaga Cathedral on Rubaga Hill, its rich history relates to Buganda and the first Missionary arrivals in the central region, the church possess a Library where much of History about its journey form early days to date, being located on the hill it gives you an aerial view of Kampala city.

RUBAGA CATHEDRAL sits on Rubaga Hill in Rubaga Division. The hill was once owned by the Buganda royals (especially KABAKA MUTEESA) who welcomed the first missionaries in Buganda central region. The missionaries settled on this hill and later built a church to spread Christianity. Today the hill hosts one of the oldest churches in Uganda, thanks to KABAKA MWANGA the son of MUTEESA who donated the land to the Catholic missionaries that set up the first church on the hill.

Lastly, the NAMUGONGO MATYRS SHRINE is situated 12 kms from Kampala, in a suburb called Namugongo, which is in Wakiso district in the outskirts of Kampala. It is a religious site where the newly converted 22 martyrs who refused to denounce their faith were bound in reed mats, thrown onto the pyre and burnt alive on orders of  Kabaka Mwanga,  the then King of Buganda.

From Rubaga Cathedral, you will head to Namugongo Martyrs shrine situated a long Jinja Road 12km from Kampala, the site has a dark history to its exitance where the early converts of the religious faith where burnt a live in the late 18th Century, the artistic Shrine and Church were built to commemorate the faith on the early believers till today Christians and Tourists still flock the place, you will take a tour around the Ballistic metallic Church constructed in Kasisira style, have a visit on the Artistic sculptures showing how the Martyrs where burnt, after this experience the One day Kampala sightseeing and Tours Ends.
