Tour Overview
KAMPALA is the largest urban centre and the capital city of Uganda. It is located only 34 kms from the Entebbe International Airport, north of Lake Victoria, with a population growth of over 1 million people. It is considered one of the fastest growing cities in the world. It is occupied by the prominent seven hills at an elevation of 3900 feet. The Kampala city and slum tour will offer you a wide range of activities to engage in. Being a business centre, the city is in most cases a beehive of activity with traffic from uptown to downtown, but this does not stop tourists from visiting the city, as it has different touristic destinations. In any case, they all add up to the unique “Kampala feel” that will leave you mesmerized for some good time as the memories built will be lodged at the back of your mind.
The various destinations in the touristy Kampala range from religious, cultural, social and lifestyle and for any one of them you go to, be sure to engage in the different ongoing activities and enjoy the city experience.
Life in the Slums
Slums are simply heavily populated urban suburbs with substandard housing facilities and low standards of living. Basing on the report from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, 49% to 64% of the total urban population of Uganda lives in slums, making it a ratio of 1.58 million people to 2.1 million people as slum residents in Uganda.
The areas of Bwaise, Kivulu, Katwe, Kosovo, Katanga, Kasubi, Kisenyi and many others are the major slums in Kampala city, in addition to others in the various districts of Uganda.
