On the peak of the Murchison Falls, the waters of the Nile force their way through a small slit within the rocks, which is just 7 meters or 23 feet wide, and topples to 43 meters below with a thunderous roar forming a residual water stray that forms a beautiful rainbow; the view is very breathtaking! From here it then continues its westward into the stunning Lake Albert. This stretch of river provides one of Uganda's most remarkable wildlife spectacles. WHEN TO VISIT
Murchison is an all year round Uganda destination with the best experiences during the dry months of the year. Uganda has two dry seasons December to February being the driest of the two, and June to mid-September Is the other.
The reason for visiting in dry seasons is that just like human-wildlife tend to take shelter during the rainy months and can be hard to spot. A game drive will not give you lots of wildlife sights during such days, which is not the case with dry days when they roam freely around the park in huge numbers. You see them around river banks as they search for water. Navigation is also an issue during the rainy season due to muddy roads, which mostly affects 2-wheel drive vehicles. 4x4 safari vehicles best serve in these kinds of situations.
